Hello! Welcome to the Harrybrooke Weddings Blog! I want to introduce myself: My name is Lindsey! I have recently stepped into the role of Event Coordinator // Wedding Planner at the beautiful Harrybrooke Park in New Milford, Connecticut. I am SO excited to start this new journey, and to bring you along for the ride! I have years experience in the Wedding Industry - in fields from fashion, bridal retail, entertainment, even the lighting and technical side! Being a recent bride myself, I know how important the wedding planning process is, and I also know how daunting it can be. That's why I will be introducing "Wedding Wednesdays!" Every other week I will feature a blog post to help you throughout the planning process for your special day! First things first - Aesthetic You're newly engaged. Where do you begin? Pinterest. A bride-to-be's bible. It's very easy to get lost scrolling through the hundreds of pictures of beautiful dresses, centerpieces, invitations, decor...the list goes on and on. It becomes overwhelming! That's why first things first - aesthetic. What is your theme? That's the big question! Do you want a fairy tale wedding? Fit with a ballgown, cathedral length veil, and ballroom venue? Or do you want something more laid back and rustic? Burlap and lace, wood signs, a light flowy dress fit with a flower crown and loose curls, set in a barn venue. That's the beauty of your wedding day. YOU get to decide your theme and how you want your wedding to be. Once you find a theme or aesthetic that best reflects you - run with it! Today's Trend Rustic. By definition, rustic is an adjective used for things related to the countryside. In the wedding industry, "Rustic” is being applied to weddings that pay tribute to the great outdoors either through an outdoor venue or by incorporating natural or nature-inspired elements in their wedding. Rustic weddings are currently trending right now in the wedding world. Laid back venues with an emphasis on natural beauty - lakeside ceremonies, barn receptions, Harrybrooke Park! Harrybrooke is the perfect backdrop for your rustic wedding. A garden ceremony, dancing to music under the stars in the field, photos by the picturesque Still River - all natural beauties. Think about it - what's your aesthetic? What's your theme? Once you have an idea - run with it! It will be easier to choose a venue, wedding dress, decor, and much more once you decide on your "theme!" So, what is YOUR theme? I have heard of many different wedding themes! Some of my favorites being "enchanted forest" and "upscale picnic." Tell us what your theme is in comments below!

Soon the falls will be streaming and the trees glistening with dusts of snow. Harrybrooke Park becomes a true wonder in the winter months. A magical white blanket falls upon the swing-sets and the bustle of the park’s year, settles in for a well deserved slumber. This is an ideal time for unique photos and to get a good look beyond the vibrant natural Summer beauty of the park and the gardens. It’s a great time to focus on the gem within the gem that we call Harden House Museum. What some may not know is that the Harden House Museum is here to fulfill your needs throughout all four seasons. The museum is a four bedroom cabana style home built in the 1940’s. It retains an elegant charm of a country home filled with artistic impression from a time that has passed us by. Walking through the front doors will have you take a step back in time and will likely take a breath or two from you with its charm and grace. We have our doors open (briefly, because it’s a little chilly to leave them open) as you search for that special venue to accommodate your gathering. The Harden House is not a giant venue, but quaint and far more intimate for a baby or bridal shower, or even a cocktail party. What better place to bring those close to you, while remaining in New Milford and so close to the love of nature. The falls of the Still River are just outside the back door off of the patio and provide the most beautiful backdrop for your photos. The blooming of beauty will be back before we know and it isn’t too early to book ahead to use the grounds of the park or the museum itself. With months of planning, we want nothing but the best for your occasion and will take honest dedication to help you every step of the way. Your wedding, your event ... you day … is unique and we want to make your dream come true. Harrybrooke Park with the Harden House Museum is absolutely the most beautiful, versatile and intimate place you can celebrate any special occasion. We welcome you to use the jewel of New Milford, Connecticut as your setting for your affair. Harrybrooke Park is stunning during all of our 4 seasons, but Autumn holds a special place. What's more, when you get a written note from a recent bride, it makes OUR day and provides amazing testimony to the park as proof that we provide the total package for your wedding day! “Sunshine, flowers, and towering pine trees. The smell of fresh air. The sweet sound of birds singing. Lush grass beneath my toes as I walked barefoot down the aisle. And a spirit of harmony, happiness and love enveloping the scene. That is how I would describe my wedding at Harrybrooke Park on September 15th, 2018. I had the privilege of marrying my best friend in a place that means a great deal to me and my family. It is a sacred place, filled with childhood memories of bike riding with friends, playing on the swing-set with my grandmother, chasing after frisbees thrown by my father, and watching the grace of the geese on the pond. To return to this place of wonder for my wedding and to be able to share it with my fiancee (now my husband!) and our closest family and friends, well nothing could have made me happier. Everyone at Harrybrooke Park put such love into preparing for our wedding day, from Lynn the gardener adding final touches to garden the day before the ceremony, Jim the groundskeeper helping to prepare the grounds and tidy up. And leading these efforts were Emily and Billy, both of whom were an absolutely a dream to work with, so eager to help make my day exactly what my fiancee and I wanted it to be and so willing to support the creative style of our ceremony. From planning months ahead of time to helping set up decorations the morning of our wedding, Emily exceeded my expectations as a wedding planner... at that point she had become a friend and an integral part of my wedding experience. I am so grateful to have met her and to know that she had my back throughout the whole process. Anyone lucky enough to work with Emily is guaranteed to have a positive experience thanks to her organization, creative thinking, positive attitude, and genuine support. And Billy, well lets just say that I could not have asked for anyone better to serve as the officiant for my wedding. With his sense of humor, charismatic writing, and the light and warmth he brings into a room, Billy worked closely with my fiancee and I to design a ceremony where the feeling of love and devotion was palpable through the park. It was beautiful... certainly an experience to cherish forever. Thank you all!” What you see above is a happy bride. That's EXACTLY why we do what we do. The look of pure joy here, with her Dad coming to see her, brings us to giant smiles and big ole tears. The aforementioned recognition is not why we do our job. Lynn takes pride in growing flowers, pulling weeds and only allowing the mowing of the lawn done when told … by her husband and Board of Managers member, Lee. It takes Shirley who spent countless hours cleaning the museum, where our bride was prepared. Oh, did we mention these people ALL volunteer their time to do this and to be a part of things here? Jim, his endless job of keeping up on the grounds never receives the accolades it deserves. It takes people like, Erika, to tidy the bathrooms, weed whack, and double check the grounds for anything that needs to be done for perfection. She is “behind the scenes” ensuring this satisfaction. This smile. The heart and soul of Harrybrooke Park and the Harden House Museum is a machine, powered by love as you we hope you choose to feel on your day. Thanks to K for the kind words. Much love from our crew to your family in return. We are beaming with smiles! So much is happening here lately and we are honored to have been chosen to be doing a photo shoot for Connecticut Bride Magazine, called “Walk in the Park!” We are more than happy to be recognized as a gorgeous destination to host your wedding. It will allow more prospective brides to see the beauty we possess and are willing to share with the world.
